Year 2011

The year is ending in like 2 days. So here's what I've gotta say about 2011...

I started the year being a fresh grad who have been bumming around for 8 months since graduation. By that time, dad had already finished his treatments and was back in JB. Around that time also I've secured a job with RHB and was asked to start on the first week of Feb. I requested to start a week later, right after CNY, cause I was still on holiday mood haha. So in the second week of Feb, I started working officially!

First couple of months of work was pretty boring actually. I was given some notes to read on the bank trade facilities and of course, I didn't understand much haha. What I enjoyed most was the stress-free environment and going home on time everyday. Also, after a couple of weeks of work, I decided to get a new ride because I'd be expected to travel for work within N9 till North Johor. And so, a new liability was confirmed and I got Casper :)

Later on, I was sent for courses in Bangi and got to meet up with some KL peeps for dinner during workdays which was quite nice :) I began to travel more to companies within the said region and met all sorts of people. Most of the time I had to converse in Mandarin though - forced to learn some new jargons to make my explanation more effective haha. But more often than not, work was manageable and interesting. I've never traveled on the highway so much before in my life! What I enjoy most is seeing the clouds, sort of a new interest :)

Around June, when I was back in JB for a weekend, dad suddenly had fits. And in the wee hours of that morning, it was the first time I sat in an ambulance. Turns out, he had some lesion in his brain and after some tests, doctors confirmed that his cancer was back again. First things first, a surgery was done in HSA JB to remove the lesion. It was successful but he still had to go through 6 cycles of chemo again, this time in JB itself. After completing the chemo, the next step was a stem-cell transplant. Dad and mom had to be in Ampang Hospital for about 2 months. During that time, bros and I went over to Ampang as often as we could and we thank God for Ps Lisa who opened up her place to us strangers :) Thank God that all of dad's treatments went well and the latest check up was positive. He has lost so much weight since then but we are just grateful that he is still with us :)

Another highlight would be me getting the iPhone4! I know this may sound kind of ridiculous but sadly, it's true - iPhone changed my life. HAHA

This year was also a year where our friends got married and many more to come next year! Really appreciate these occasions as they are a time for reunion since everyone is now settled down in different places. The only setback is our pockets haha. But I'm grateful for new friendships and also deepening of old friendships this year. I learnt that if we do open up and accept others, things can be really different :)

Christmas was really nice this year. Aunt and cousin from sg came to stay with us and we had a good time having home-cooked food and just chilling out at home :) Just grateful that the whole family can be together :)

Besides that, I managed to meet up with some JB friends too!

I guess that's about it for this year. It was more of just work and family. No major trips this year, but there will be in the coming year! :)

Above all, I'm thankful that I can still serve God with what I love.

For all the many downs and occasional ups, I still want to thank You for Year 2011 :)

Life's been so different this year, but I'll get to more details when I do my annual reflection later ;) I guess we can never avoid being in contact with others but that's the root of my ups and downs.
But this morning's devotion reminds me to be at peace with everyone. I'm grateful for all the times that I can get over an issue easily. And for the other times, I definitely need more grace.

It's the Christmas season once again. One of the mellow-est December for me personally. I hope things will pick up soon, and for all of you ;)

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Highlights of 2010

It's been a crazy, crazy year, with regards to the many types of events rather than the hype. Beginning of the year was my final semester in uni. It was a rather tough time getting back to studying after 7 months of internship before that. But praise God that I did actually passed all my exams and graduated in June - yay!

I was supposed to go for a mission trip to Thailand right after graduation, but right at the same time my dad was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Stage 4. It was truly a huge blow for us as a family and the following 6 months were the toughest time I've ever lived through in my entire life. My dad went through 6 cycles of chemotherapy, which included a week in the ICU due to pneumonia, and by God's grace, he has been completely healed today! Throughout this time, I realized the importance of a family being together and going through every day trusting that the doctor has sufficient wisdom to treat the illness and believing that God has the power to heal. Now that I'm standing at the other side of the tunnel, I'm just amazed at God's ever-flowing blessings. Indeed, God was the strength of our hearts :) Besides that, I'm very thankful for all our relatives who supported us and helped us in every way. Not forgetting wonderful friends who prayed with us and stood by us every step of the way. Thank you :)

This year has also been a year I caught up with some high school friends whom I've kind of lost touch with since I left school. I'm very glad to have spent some time with them and catching up every now and then when we do land in the same timezone. Missing them already!

Another event that's worth highlighting would be the trip to India in early November. Joined a friend who had a pair of complimentary flight tickets to spare and off we went to discover incredible India! It was an eye-opener for me being in the northern side of India for about a week. Fortunately for us, the weather was really nice. As it was early winter, we enjoyed the climate of not sweating at all the whole day, in contrast with Malaysia. The majestic architectures were very impressive as well, especially the Taj Mahal. I'm so proud to say that I've finally conquered one of the 7th Wonders of the World! 6 more to go! :)

As for Christmas this year, I attended my first costume party! It was incredibly funny and crazy! Unfortunately, the details are P&C, but you can see how we dressed up, except for one person ;)

Right now, I'm job-hunting for my very first since graduation. Really hope to start working soon as I've accomplished my desired 6 months of post-grad break :)

With all that has happened, Year 2010 will definitely be a year that I'll always remember. But now, I think I'm ready for you, Year 2011!
Looking forward to a new year of life-changing experiences and God's daily molding :)

They are all 100% cotton.

- I personally fell in love at first touch :)

They are also on other useful things besides bags & cases...

I've been using a few of their cases (got them from Johor Bahru) and I really like them.

Their prices may be a little steep, but rest assure that you're paying for the quality.

I saw this post on Heidi's blog quite a while back. I've been trying facial moisturizers from various brands but none that I liked so far. I've heard good things about Eucerin and thought I should give it a try :)

I've used almost all of it and these are the 3 things I like about it:

1. no oily feeling after applying

(this has been my major problem with others)

2. maintains the moisture on my skin overnight

(especially when I sleep with the aircon every night. I stopped using for a week and I felt a big difference!)

3. love the scent!

(somehow this motivates me to apply..haha)

This is the first tv series that i've downloaded an entire season so far...haha.. have always been leeching of friends' collections for Glee, Grey's Anatomy and HIMYM.
Unlike Grey's Anatomy , Mercy focuses on the lives of nurses, which i think is a really good thing. Through my dad's hospitalization, i realized the utmost importance of nurses and i must say that their job is undeniably important and not easy at all. I think that the world should give more credit to them for their service.
Anyway, Mercy is pretty fun to watch... so, u might wanna check it out ;)

Came back to JB with my brother on Sunday evening... since my parents went over to Melaka for my dad's treatment, the house here's been neglected and desperately needed a little cleaning.. so i was given 3 days 'off' to come back here and stay at home while our faithful kakak cleaner came and made the house squeaky clean again :)
I've been having quite a lot of fun sleeping in my parents' room (since they are not around), especially enjoying their king size bed cause there's more than enough room for my laptop to sleep beside me and maximum tossing and turning space..heehee..you must be wondering how come i don't sleep in my own room, that's because i've been residing in our melaka home most of the time for the past 5 years since we moved to this place..so the room here isn't very ai-ish (yet)..haha..will definitely ai-fy it once i decide if i'm gonna be settling down in JB now that i've finished my studies :)
Anyway, i was just staring at my parents' wardrobe in front of the bed and i can't help but noticed the beauty of the colours of the clothes all together. So being a girl, and being too full after dinner to take a shower, i took out my cam and snap for a good xx mins..started off with just the wardrobe itself...den i got bored and decided to switch on the self-timer and added the monkey... *points at the pic above.. Vain, i know...blame it on the wardrobe! :P
Returning to melaka this evening after bro finishes work. Dad's going for his 2nd chemo tmr :)

As some of you might have known, about a week ago, my dad was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Stage 4. He has gone through his first chemo and is recovering well. He has 5 more chemo sessions to go through with 3 weeks interval in between each session. This morning, we brought him to the hospital for a blood test and the result was encouraging.
Truly, God has been wonderful to us, granting the doctors wisdom and placing family and friends who have been showering us with generous amount of help, support, encouragement and most importantly, prayers. Thank you also to those who've taken time off to see my dad in the hospital and at home. Your presence really meant a lot to us :) :)
Do continue to keep my dad in prayer, yeah?

Q: Where will you be after you graduate?
A: I'll still hang around in Melaka. Not intending to shift to anywhere. But of course, i'll go back to JB for a while, and visit places where it doesn't take too much cash ;)
Actually, i'm going for a mission trip to Chiang Mai from 1st June-15th June.

Q: Have you applied for any job?
A: No. I'm determined to bum around for a while, find out more about the options available, only then decide.

Q: How's life? Any updates?
A: I'm having finals now...so i'm getting bored of studying....

but tht afternoon while i was taking a nap,
i heard someone throwing stones at my room window upstairs..
guess who was it???
the DHL guy!
he came back again to deliver it to me!
he said that my car was around this time...
so he knew someone was at home..haha

btw, he's the 2nd guy who has thrown stones at my room window..
the 1st was my big bro who didn't hv the house keys! hahhaha

ask me how i got it... i'm still unsure but perhaps it's the anti-fungal drugs i've been taking.... or maybe chicken?? LOL
but i'm gonna go for a test as soon as i'm completely well to find out exactly what i'm allergic to... coz i think i've had enough..haha... in conclusion, i've got 3 jabs in a month so far and i'm on drugs.

Yes, April is here.... and it's gonna be a crazy ride cause it's the final month of studying in uni!
have 2 more assignments to work on and 4 final exam papers to study for, exams in first 2 weeks of May! *panics... really wonder how i'm gonna live through these 2 months... haha....
ohya, my rashes are completed gone noww..thk God! just have to watch my diet still...no poisonous seafood and perhaps not too much chicken too..haha... i'm a very paranoid person, u see....

it's the 4th day now.... i've got more spots since day 1 but today was better, some of it kinda disappeared and some are drying up... don't ask me why the rashes so random wan.. i also duno lorr...
anyway, i'm glad i went home.... got another jab from our family doctor the moment i reached jb and changed my meds... he also gave me calamine lotion, which i utterly adore cause it covers the spots which i so hated to lay my eyes on....super geli!!! i dont like!!! and of course, what better place to be than home when u're unwell :) appreciate my family's concern n understanding as i was rather down the past few days... yet, they just showered me with nothing less than love :)
i'm guessing that the spots/scars will take quite a while to go away...so, no shorts for me in the meantime.... sweaters and longs will be my fashion, in this kind of weather...happiness!!..haha..

woke up early for breakfast today because i have no car to use and Soly has to send me to class.... and so, we had breakfast at McD!
McD breakfast always gave me a feeling that i'm eating healthy, good breakfast..hahahhaa...
but as i was finishing up my tea this morning, i looked at my arms, and there they were..those little red dots, staring at me...screaming "RASHES RASHES!!"
URGHHH...!!! either some monster insect bit me or i just can't eat McD!!
i immediately went to the clinic (i think the doc see my face until sien dy), and the doc said that i needed a jab to clear my blood....and yea, i got jabbed AGAIN!! grrrrrr...............
right now, the little dots are still visible.....hope it'll clear off soon :(

Feels like quite awhile since i last blogged! actually, nolah...not that long also..just felt long because of exams and the break....haha
anw, been having problems with my pc...got invaded by a knight in shining armour (i wish)... nah, it's a stupid trojan...the antivirus will prompt whenever im online and windows will go cranky, so i decided to minimize being online and just stay offline and watch korean series...my latest indulgence - You're Beautiful ..haha...it's funny! i love it cause the lead actor has this smile that is so cute beyond words but yet he acts like Grumpy most of the time..haha...i think that's why whenever he smiles, the impact is like WOW!.. hahahaha.. thanks to the Tiuns for introducing! :D
back to the pc, been calling Dell Support for support (DUH)... in the span of 3days, i called thrice....each time i get a different agent, the first being a malay lady, second a chinese boy and third an indian boy..haha...1 Malaysia! they've been really helpful, but the urghhh part is waiting for them to take my call... been trying to get them the whole nite, but nobody's picking up! Thank God for multiple pcs at home... am using my mom's pc right now to online and download the missing drivers...hope i can solve the problem! thankful for pro IT frens who actually understand the annoyingly complicated nature of the pc...haha...thanks for the tips! :D

except for who was acting (Denzel Washington), so it has to be a good movie.
i was actually worried during the first quarter of the movie
cause it was super slow-moving..
..but as the movie progressed with the unexpected twist,

...there were complications, hence the decision to be made.

now, after 23 years.....

That's how my name came about. My parents believe that it was because of God's grace that both my mom and I survived that night.

When I was about 8 years old, I told my mom that I hated my brothers... haha.. I don't think my mom remembers this, but she was really upset when I said that and asked me why. I told her that I couldn't stand them bullying me all the time... guess i was pretty annoyed and irritated at that point of time... haha... I remember very clearly that my mom told me that I must love them because they're my brothers and probably some other explanation which i can't remember anymore... there's just so much I could comprehend at that age... haha...

I believe that beneath the humour in my little memory, it's a great reminder for me to love my brothers forever, regardless of their flaws and weaknesses... and because they've been faithfully doing so to their only sister.

2nd day in singapore and it was bowl-i-cious!!
read on n u'll know why i said that...

anyway, the day started around noon as Xi, Adda and i went to Tiong Bahru for nicenice smooth smooth porridge (BOWL attack)..i tried the raw fish too! something different compared to the usual sashimi i always eat..

next, we headed to Bugis to jalan jalan...cousin and fren bought shoes and g-shock and i had the S$1 ice cream! those bar-like ice cream kepit wif 2 biscuits...yummy!

May, our cousin told us that our aunt cooked some vegetable curry and asked if we'd like to go to her place to hv it, and so we headed to Pasir Ris for the afternoon :) otw there, we bought 2 big bottles of heineken coz we thought that the weather was hot..haha

so we had the delicious veggie curry hor fan (BOWL attack) and some popiah but wrap with veggie wan...i wasn't hungry but i just ate n ate n ate..haha...

after that it was Poi time!! know what's Poi???

we poi-ed till tired, then it was watching-tv-till-fall-asleep time..haha
woke up from nap and it was dinner time! we had fried noodles and fried chicken in our aunt's place :)
by then, my tummy was throwing in the white towel...totally cannot handle dy..told myself no more food for the rest of the day.
Xi and i headed home to get the car then fetch some of her frens up for 2nd round dinner at a Jap restaurant in Bugis. We just had Asahi and no food.... so guai :)
den the whole gang, consisting about 10 of us decided to go eat durian at Geylang..haha... (inserts pic)
Finally, the highlight of the evening was bowling! (BOWL attack) we divided ourselves into 2 groups and played 2 games..haha... quite proud that i hit 100+ points in both games...hahahaha...anw, xi's friends were awesome company! :) :)
yeah, thtz it for my sg trip! it's 3.15am now and i haven't bathe! haha...so, that's all from me in singapura....adios!

i cant believe that i did not bring my camera to sg!
so, imma write out wat happened today coz i wont rmbr tmr!! =p
Anyway, i arrived in bugis around 11am today, was picked up by Xi and Adda :)
den we went to get some awesome tasty patry stuff at Teluk Belanga (now i wish i hv pics to show..urgh) and headed to The Cathay for jap food...while waiting for the place to open, we had some triangle pizza and asparagus wanton noodles (wishes for yet another pic..double urgh). we had 99 cents sushi and some other nicenice jap food b4 we left for orchard to shop!
wonder wat got into me today, bought stuff from Uniqlo, Nike, Zara, Cotton On...quite crazy actually...but i really couldnt help it coz everything was on sale! believe it or not, i spent less than S$100 altogether!! aaaaaaaaaaaahhh...
but yeah, i stopped there...and the rest of the evening was just eating... had really nice pan-fried pork pao and mango frozen yogurt before dinner (imagine some pics here) and after resting for a while at home, Xi's friends came to pick us up for dinner at Changi... den for dessert at Bugis and finally, back home.

was my internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers Melaka from 1/6/2009 - 17/12/2009! i've never worked before in my whole life (except for helping out here n there in a clinic n music shop), this 6 plus months of working had been a big eye-opener for me, and im truly grateful for all the ppl i've worked with who are just the kindest :)

As I sat in the office today, busy as usual, I suddenly began to ponder on how God has brought me through these 26 weeks of my internship. I remember during the first few weeks I really enjoyed the idea of working...I totally look forward to go to work everyday..which some of u thought was truly weird of me..haha.. but from the 3rd month onwards, when I was assigned more tasks, I started feeling the pressure...each assignment that I was given got tougher and tougher and I found myself praying that God will grant me more wisdom every day, and that I'll be able to manage any given task without making any mistake. Without fail, I was able to complete a given task on time, I mean there isn't any deadline for me but I'm very grateful that I never once slowed the team down...just so u know, we're normally given 1 week at a client's place to audit their accounts, so we must finish everything within that week..that's why we need to work fast..I was always paranoid about that. I constantly told myself never to be slow..for fear of slowing the rest down..I wonder what do you call that kind of fear..LOL. I guess I gave myself a lot of pressure too...my colleagues are all very kind, they never once rushed me or scolded me, but always guiding me patiently and generously taking time to explain things in detail even though we're short of time. Since the first week, I've always been touched by their kindness - that was a big eye-opener for me, I dunno why I felt that humans were not capable of being that kind usually..LOL. Even though I had quite a bad experience a while back, which some of u may know, it's kinda like no biggie now that i think back...I guess it's just something for me to go through and remember...and...and...just live with it lah..haha.
so, as I was flipping through audit reports and pressing my calculator frantically (I was doing that the whole day today), my heart suddenly felt heavy. I realized I can't bear to leave this company in a few weeks' time. I looked around and I realized I've grown attached to the office, the people. Deep down I knew the very reason why I felt that way - sense of belonging.
I wish I love auditing, then I won't hesitate to return to the company and work after I graduate, that's if they want me lah..haha..but sadly, auditing doesn't interest me at all...and also workload of an intern cannot be compared with that of an auditor..haha. Anyway, it's been a great experience for me so far...I got to work in many different types of environment and enjoyed myself in many different ways....haha....for that, I'm thankful. I pray that I'll continue to add value to my final 3 audit assignment teams before my time is up! :) :)

Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, i still managed to catch some of the latest movies on the big screen, particularly the following 2...I realized that I'm actually a very easy-to-please movie go-er....no matter how bad the movie is, i won't feel as if I've wasted time whatsoever...
i guess, i just love the feeling of watching movies :)

yes! it's so scary to know that tmr is the last day of Nov!!
i think Nov's the fastest month ever for 2009! i felt like i just fast-forwarded the entire month w/o living it! LOL...i guess cause i was practically away for work most of the weeks....quite sad...but the experience was good lah :) another thing is i always start my christmas shopping in nov..but this yr i failed miserably.......so emo. (if u don't get any presie from aiai this yr, pls be understanding k...LOL)

so, the happiest month is about to begin...yet, i'm not done with my internship...i know, it's sad....the rest of my peers have already ended theirs and are shaking their legs....more importantly, they get 2 whole free weeks to complete their full report! on the other hand, i have to work on it every nite after work :( quite worried about it actually as i'm going to be working outstation again on the 2nd week of dec...which is the same week of the deadline...in short, i have to complete it way b4 the deadline = shorter time for me! *criessss....
if u're wondering why haven't i stop working...it's because the company requires me to extend as they are shorthanded during this crazy month...sad sad. but thank God i managed to apply leave for the entire christmas week! means, instead of extending 4 weeks, it's 3 weeks!! yipeee! even though it's just ONE week, it makes alot of difference lorrr :)
